Bengaluru, April 20: Former Karnataka DGP Om Prakash, 68, was found murdered at his HSR Layout residence in Bengaluru on Sunday. The retired 1981-batch IPS officer was discovered in a pool of blood with stab wounds—police say he was stabbed three times.
Initial investigations suggest the murder may be linked to a family dispute, with police suspecting his wife’s involvement. It was she who alerted the authorities. A knife believed to have been used in the crime has been recovered, and the body sent to St. John’s Hospital for post-mortem.
Om Prakash, originally from Champaran in Bihar, had served as Karnataka’s 38th DGP in 2015. Known for handling sensitive cases, he played a key role in probing the 2013 BJP office blast and the 2014 Church Street bombing.
