Puri, Apr 21: The body of the 11-year-old boy, who had been missing since April 15, was recovered from inside a septic tank in Delanga locality of Odisha’s Puri district on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Ashirbad Sahoo and his body was recovered from Ratanpur village under Delanga police limits in the district.
As per reports, Ashirbad was last seen playing near his home on April 16 and did not return home. Thereafter, his family members filed a missing complaint with Delanga police.
Acting on the complaint, police swung into action and detained Ashirbad's uncle during the investigation for questioning. Initially, he was initially released but the cops kept him under surveillance and rearrested him from a roadside eatery on Sunday night.
During further interrogation, he reportedly confessed to killing the boy. Based on his statement, police recovered Ashirbad’s body from the septic tank.

Though the exact motive behind the gruesome killing is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that it might be fallout of past enmity.
Meanwhile, tension prevailed in the village as enraged locals stormed and vandalized the accused's house earlier this morning.
Upon getting the information, police arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control.
Further investigation into the matter was underway.
