Bhubaneswar: Third seeded Prarthana Modal will face Avipsha Dehury in the final of the Women’s singles category of the 11th Utkal Open Tennis Championship at Kalinga Stadium here on Sunday.
In the women’s singles semifinals on Saturday, Mandol upset top seed Prisha Das by scripting a 9-8 (5) victory, in another semifinal, unseeded Avipsha edged out eighth seeded Sanrachana Das by 9-2.
In the U-12 boys’ semifinals, Suryansh Thato won over top seed Sarim Nawaz Sheikh by 9-3 and Aagman Samay defeated Gouri Sankar Panda by 9-5. Suryansh will meet Aagman in the final. Similarly, in the girls U-14 final, top seed Sk Wania Shazfa will face second seed Sanrchana Das.
In the men’s semifinal on Sunday, top seed Amrutjya Mohanty and third seed Anshuman Singh will face 4th Seed Aditya Satapathy and sixth seed Aditya Mohapatra respectively. Similarly in the U-14 boy’s semifinals, top seed Suyash Patnaik and fourth seed Vaibhav Agrawala will face Aagman Samaya and Aagman Saphal respectively.
