Paradip, April 28: A major fire broke out near Zero Point at a private company’s stockyard in Paradip, Jagatsinghpur district, on Monday. The blaze quickly spread, engulfing a large quantity of plastic-coated iron pipes, which burned intensely. Firefighting teams arrived promptly and have been working to contain the fire.
As per the report, these pipes were meant for transporting liquid petroleum products underground. The exact cause of the fire remains unclear, but an investigation is underway to determine its origin.
The fire broke out around an hour ago and rapidly spread to nearby areas. Efforts to control the flames were still ongoing at the time of this report.
More than 10 fire tenders have been deployed to the scene. “The situation is under control now. The District Collector, SP, and the IIC of the local PS are overseeing the firefighting efforts. The fire is expected to be fully extinguished within an hour,” said the Paradip Sub-Collector.
