Amritsar, April 28: Amritsar Rural Police successfully arrested two operatives of a terror network along with weapons after a brief encounter near Ramdas city, officials reported on Monday.

Punjab’s Director General of Police (DGP), Gaurav Yadav, shared the news on social media, stating, "In a significant operation against terror networks, @AmritsarRPolice has apprehended two operatives of the Jiwan Fauji terror module following a brief encounter near Ramdas, Amritsar Rural."

The accused, identified as Vishal Masih and Lovepreet Singh (also known as Love), both from Jafarkot, opened fire at the police during a chase but were quickly subdued with controlled retaliatory action. The police recovered weapons and explosives from their possession, according to DGP Yadav.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed at Ramdas Police Station under the Explosive Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to uncover the full extent of the network and prevent any further terror activity, the DGP added.

He concluded, “@PunjabPoliceInd is committed to eliminating terror threats and ensuring the safety and security of our citizens."
