Bhawanipatna, Aug 30: Flight service between Kalahandi and Bhubaneswar is scheduled to be inaugurated tomorrow.
The inaugural flight will be flagged off by the Union Civil Aviation Minister through virtual mode and will be attended by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Commerce and Transport Minister Tukuni Sahu and Kalahandi MP Basanta Panda.
After the DGCA nod to Utkela airport in Kalahandi, an IndiaOne Air aircraft conducted a trial run in the Bhubaneswar-Kalahandi route on Tuesday. The flight will take off at around 7:15 am from Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar and reach at Utkela at around 8:25 am. Again the same aircraft will depart from Utkela at 8:50 am and arrive at Bhubaneswar at 10 am.
Worth mentioning, the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) earlier on August 7 granted license for the operation of commercial flights at Utkela Airport.
Earlier in March, a five-member DGCA team from Delhi and Bhubaneswar had conducted an inspection of the airport. Their assessment included a review of the flight connectivity proposal connecting Bhubaneswar and Bhawanipatna.
