Bhubaneswar, January 20: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Bhubaneswar has forecast moderate to dense fog across several districts of Odisha over the next two days.
Districts such as Khurda, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Nayagarh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Sundargarh, Koraput, and Cuttack are likely to experience foggy conditions on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, light to moderate fog is expected to affect Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Nayagarh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Sundargarh.
Meanwhile, a cold wave has gripped parts of Odisha, with snowfall reported in the Lamtaput block of Koraput district on Monday. The minimum temperature in the area dropped below 5°C on Sunday, leading to snowfall in multiple locations within the block.
G. Udayagiri is the coldest place in the state on Sunday night, recording a minimum temperature of 4.8°C. Other notable low temperatures included Semiliguda (7.2°C), Daringibari and Jharsuguda (9°C), Rourkela (9.5°C), Bhadrak (10°C), Keonjhar (10.4°C), Koraput (10.5°C), and Bhawanipatna (10.6°C).
The IMD has also indicated that the winter chill is likely to persist across Odisha for the next four to five days.
