Also on Friday Nilgiri MLA Sukanta Kumar Nayak resigned from the primary membership of the BJP.
In a letter addressed to the Odisha unit president Manmohan Samal, Behera expressed his efforts to serve diligently in his capacity and contribute to the party's growth. However, he admitted to falling short of his own expectations in achieving significant milestones.
In addition to resigning from his primary membership, Behera has also stepped down from his position as district president. Notably, Behera, who was formerly associated with the Congress, had joined the BJP in 2019. Despite contesting the elections on the BJP ticket that year, he faced defeat.
Also on Mar 27: Ahead of the Odisha Assembly elections, senior Congress leader and Jatni MLA Suresh Routray’s son Manmath Routray today joined the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
While there were previous speculations about Behera's potential departure from the BJP, he had refuted such claims at the time. Presently, Behera's decision to part ways with the BJP ahead of the elections remains unconfirmed as he could not be reached for comment.
