Bhubaneswar, September 8: Dhenkanal Police arrested four youths for sexually assaulting a 22-year-old homeless girl under Bhapur police limits in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district.
According to reports, the accused used to gang-rape the girl in an abandoned Anganwadi center in the past several months.
The homeless girl, who is now seven months pregnant, was staying with her ailing father at this abandoned Anganwadi building.
The girl’s father has been suffering from severe mental health problems and was unable to resist the accused.
The police have detained four persons for questioning and launched a manhunt to arrest the remaining accused.
Meanwhile, Deputy CM Pravati Parida has directed Dhenaknal Superintendent of Police to inquire into the matter.
