Bhubaneswar, Feb 17: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today unveiled a new initiative to provide free Mahaprasad of Lord Jagannath to devotees at the Jagannath Temple in Puri. This announcement was made as part of the introduction of a new scheme, which will be launched soon.
During the presentation of the state’s annual budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 in the Assembly, the CM revealed the launch of the "Shree Jagannath Darshan Yojana." The scheme aims to offer underprivileged devotees the opportunity to visit Puri, receive darshan of Lord Jagannath, and enjoy Mahaprasad, all at no cost.
To support this initiative, the Chief Minister has allocated Rs 30 crore in the budget. The broader goal of the budget is to promote tourism in Odisha, with a total allocation of Rs 820 crore for the state’s tourism sector. The focus of these funds will be on infrastructure development, community empowerment, and promoting sustainable tourism practices.
