Puri, Feb 16: The general darshan and ‘Gopala Ballabh’ ritual at the Shree Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri were delayed by an hour after blood stains were found inside the 12th-century shrine.
As per reports, the servitors noticed the blood stains at the ‘Bhitar Katha’ area near the Beharana Dwara of the temple while performing the Abakash, Mailam, and Tadaplagi rituals.

While the source of the blood still remains unclear, the Gopal Ballabh ritual was carried out following the the purification ceremony.
During this time, the Beharana Dwara was thoroughly cleansed with water and lime, and devotees were not allowed to enter for darshan.
Notably, the Maha Snana ritual is performed in special circumstances, such as when a child urinates inside the temple, if someone vomits, blood stains are found, an animal dies, or if a person passes away on the temple premises.
