Heavy to heavy rainfall likely for next 24 hours in Odisha: IMD

Bhubaneswar, August 17: The regional center of India Meteorological Department (IMD), Bhubaneswar has forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Odisha for the next 24 hours due to a low-pressure area over the Northwest Bay of Bengal.

An orange warning has been issued for heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 cm to 11 cm) in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, and Bhadrak.

Similarly, a Yellow warning has been issued for heavy rainfall (7 cm to 11 cm) in Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Bargarh, Nuapada, Balangir, Boudh, and Sonepu.

Due to heavy rain, there is apprehension of water logging in low-lying areas and underpasses.

Similarly, the intense rain spells may lead to traffic congestion in urban areas.

Damage to Infrastructure: Possible damage to Kutcha roads and vulnerable Kutcha houses.

Agricultural Impact: Potential damage to vegetables and horticultural crops.

The state government has recommended avoiding staying in vulnerable kutcha houses.
