Mahakumbh Mela 2025, which began on January 13th, is not only a deeply religious gathering but also an economic powerhouse. The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) estimates this Mahakumbh Mela 2025 will generate around ₹2 lakh crore in revenue over its 45-day span.

With an expected 450 million devotees attending, the Maha Kumbh is set to create an economic surge, particularly in the tourism and hospitality sectors. If each visitor spends an average of ₹5,000 during their pilgrimage, the mela could easily reach the estimated ₹2 lakh crore. CAIT predicts that local hotels, guesthouses, and lodges will generate around ₹40,000 crore.

The Uttar Pradesh government has invested approximately ₹7,500 crore in this religious event, demonstrating its commitment for facilitating a smooth and enriching experience for the attendees. The scale at which Mahakumbh Mela 2025 is proceeding is truly impressive, and its economic impact is undeniable.

Helicopter services alone are projected to earn around ₹3.5 crore per day, transporting 7,000 pilgrims daily at a cost of ₹5,000 per trip. This highlights the diverse range of services and businesses that thrive during the Mahakumbh mela 2025. Praveen Khandelwal, secretary general of the CAIT, opined "Mahakumbh mela 2025 will witness large-scale economic and trade activities. An estimate suggests that with an average expenditure of ₹5,000 per person during religious travel, the total spending will exceed ₹2 lakh crore. This includes spending on hotels, guesthouses, temporary accommodations, food, religious items, healthcare, and other services."

The food and beverages sector expected to contribute around ₹20,000 crore, while religious offerings and items like incense sticks, lamps, and idols could generate another ₹20,000 crore.

 Brands Play at Mahakumbh Mela 2025: 

The MahaKumbh Mela 2025 has also become a good platform for brands across various sectors which are to connect with the pilgrims and devotees. Major companies like Dettol, Dabur, Pepsico, Coca-Cola, ITC, and Reliance have identified the mela's potential and have devised ways to engage with the crowds.

Pepsico, for instance, has installed a 30-foot-tall illuminated Mountain Dew bottle, serving as a landmark and ensuring better visibility in the designated mela area. They have also thoughtfully provided 500 charging points, sponsored by their energy drink, Sting.

Reliance has taken a different approach, setting up ashram rest stops along the pilgrimage routes, offering devotees a place to rest and recharge thus getting near to the devotees by promoting their brand.
