Hirakud Dam continues to flush excess flood water through 40 sluice gates

Sambalpur, Aug 17: The water level in the Mahanadi River continued to rise at different places across Odisha as Hirakud Dam continues to release excess flood water through 40 sluice gates. According to the dam authorities, the water level of the reservoir stood at 626.56 feet at 6 am on Wednesday against the water holding capacity of 630 feet. While the current inflow of water into the dam is 6,91,950 cusecs, the outflow is 6,10,003 cusecs. Special Relief Commissioner Pradip Kumar Jena informed that as many as 10 districts of the state are affected by the flood.
