ICMR chooses IMS and SUM Hospital as centre for clinical trials

Bhubaneswar, Jan 1: The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has chosen the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital here as one of the ICMR Centre for Clinical Trials (ICCT) in the eastern region. IMS and SUM Hospital, faculty of medicine of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA), had responded to the Expression of Interest for participation in the Indian Clinical Trial and Education Network (INTENT). The application was reviewed by a screening committee comprising external experts. The centre will undertake clinical trials on new drugs and vaccines, Dr. Ruchi Bhuyan, Director (Medical Research) at IMS and SUM Hospital, said. Dr. Soumya Surath Panda of the department of Oncology will be the Principal Investigator at the centre while Dr. Ruchi Bhuyan, Dr. Priyanka Samal, Dr. Jyoti Prakash Samal and Dr. Nirmala Deo Pradhan will be Co-Investigators.
