Bhubaneswar: The Pathaan team will be back on screen with a twist in 2026. The much anticipated movie of Shah Rukh Khan, King, will soon go on the floors. The film will have a Eid release in 2026.
In the SRK led King, like Pathaan, Deepika Padukone will be in the lead cast. But in King Abhishek Bachchan will be playing the main antagonist role. John Abraham was the main villain in Pathaan.
The shooting of the film will commence from May 2025. The movie will be introducing Suhana Khan (SRK’s daughter) to B’wood.
As per a report in Peeping Moon, Deepika has joined the cast of King and will be playing a special role.
This film marks Deepika and SRK’s second straight collaboration after Pathaan. It’s also their sixth film together overall, including the cameo in Jawan.
The report says, “Deepika Padukone will be seen playing the role of Suhana Khan's mother in this action drama. Her character plays an important part in the plotline as she also portrays the role of the former lover of Shah Rukh Khan's character, who has now turned into an assassin. The film will mainly focus on SRK's battle against the deadly villain, played by Abhishek Bachchan.”
KING A REMAKE?
As per the report, SRK’s King will not be an official remake of Leon: The Professional, but it will have many similarities. Here too, SRK's King is a Bichoo with many twists.
The report says, “For instance, Deepika's character and past love affair were not part of the original film or its Hindi remake, Bicchoo (2000), starring Bobby Deol and Rani Mukherji. Director and writer Siddarth Anand is asid to have made significantg changes to the script, which was previously approved by Sujoy Ghosh, but he eventually quit the project.
Siddarth has given the film the tinge of classic SRK entertainer with action, romance, and big drama. SRK and Siddarth want to make the film a grand action spectacle.
The report said, earlier, the team toyed with the idea of casting Saif Ali Khan and Tabu as Suhana’s parents, but they dropped that plan. The movie team believes that casting Deepika would bring both star power and emotional depth to the story.
