Bhubaneswar, Apr 7: In a heartbreaking incident, a 22-year-old youth allegedly committed suicide in the Bharatpur area of Bhubaneswar reportedly after breakup with his girlfriend.
The deceased youth has been identified as a native of Rayagada district and had been living in the capital city for educational purposes.
As per reports, the body of the deceased was found hanging inside his rented accommodation. The body also bore additional injuries on his wrists.
According to preliminary investigations, he might have first attempted to end his life by slitting his wrist before resorting to hanging with a dupatta, a traditional Indian stole.
While the exact circumstances leading to the incident are yet to be officially confirmed, police suspect that a personal dispute, possibly related to a romantic relationship, might have prompted him to take the extreme step.
Reports indicate the deceased had fallout with his alleged girlfriend shortly before the incident.
A case has been registered and further investigation into the matter is underway, said the police.
