Bhubaneswar: Salman Khan became superstar in late 2000s with blockbusters like Wanted, Dabangg, Bodyguard, Ek Tha Tiger and Sultan.
The stupendous success of Salman Khan in the late 2000s had been attributed to careful selection of scripts that matched his character. He was then avoiding repetitive roles. During the superstar years, he gave another blockbuster in 2015 – Bajrangi Bhaijaan, a different genre film from his earlier blockbusters.
But carried away with the heft of his stardom, Salman Khan signed scripts that looked repetitive or not matching his persona.
The consequence is the stardom arc light of Salman Khan got dimmed. And since 2018, the superstar is yet to give a blockbuster movie to his huge fandom.
The Bhai movies like Race 3 (2018), Bharat (2019), Dabangg 3 (2020), Radhe (2021), Antim (2021), Kiski Ka Bhai , Kisi ki Jaan (2023 and Sikandar (2025) failed to mark the hit movie in box office.
Salman Khan stardom buzz is there. But his films keep doing average or bombed like Sikandar. This has led to a deep frustration among his fans.
Post Sikandar dud, reports have surfaced that the mega star met his fans on April 5, just a week after the movie hit theatres.
As the fans started trending hashtags on X (formerly Twitter) and urged Salman to make better film choices. Their posts caught the actor’s attention that led to a real meeting.
SALMAN SMELLS SIKANDAR ROT EARLIER?
If a news report in Bollywood Hungama is to be believed, the star had made a big revelation to his fans on Sikandar.
According to the news report, Salman sat down with a group of fans, along with his manager Jordy Patel and business head Vikram Tanwar.
The fans had a no-holds barred discussion with the star.
The report says they voiced their concerns with regard to the film’s weak content, direction, and dull marketing.
Quoting sources, the news report said, “They also showed their trends on X and how they have been incessantly tweeting as they care for him big time and want him to make better choices.”
After a candid discussion, the report says Salman made a frank revelation on Sikandar movie to his fans.
Quoting sources, the report said,
“Salman confessed that from the nascent stage, he felt something was off about Sikandar.”
The superstar further opined that he too felt the film didn’t come together the way a big project should.
Fans also complained against producer Sajid Nadiadwala’s team. They raised the grave issue of the film getting leaked on the release day. Some fans were upset with Warda Nadiadwala’s tweets and showed Salman screenshots of them. They poured out all before Salman Khan.
FANS COUNSEL FOR BHAI TO TAKE SRK LEAF
Concerned over the fate of Salman Khan films, the fans advised the star to work again with directors like Kabir Khan and Ali Abbas Zafar. They reminded him of the blockbuster films he delivered with both of them, as these directors understand his strengths and give him strong scripts.
Fans gave another suggestion during the meeting. They told Salman to have someone like Shah Rukh Khan’s manager, Pooja Dadlani, who acts as a bridge between the star and his fans. They felt Salman needed someone to read fan messages, share feedback, and keep that connection strong.
The meeting went on for about an hour. Salman listened to everything and promised to take their suggestions seriously.
As per the report, “It’s unprecedented to see a star of this stature meeting the fans in this manner and listening to their woes.”
Post the Sikandar fiasco, fans strongly believe that their meeting with him could mark a turning point. They want Salman Khan to work with trusted directors to bounce back.
