Dubai Crown Prince Set for Key India Visit to Bolster Strategic Ties

India is preparing to welcome His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, for a significant two-day official visit commencing tomorrow, April 8th, and concluding on April 9th. This visit, marking his first to India as Crown Prince, comes following an invitation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and aims to further deepen the robust relationship between India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

High-Level Engagements Scheduled

According to India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the visit highlights the strong ties between the two nations. Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to host a working lunch for the Crown Prince on April 8th. During his stay, Sheikh Hamdan is also slated to hold important meetings with key figures in the Indian government, including External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. These discussions are anticipated to cover various aspects of the bilateral relationship.

Accompanying the Crown Prince will be a significant delegation comprising several ministers, senior government officials, and prominent business leaders from the UAE, signifying the comprehensive nature of the engagement.

Focus on Economic and Strategic Partnership

A key component of the visit will be a business roundtable scheduled to take place in Mumbai. This event will bring together influential business leaders from both India and the UAE, providing a platform to explore avenues for enhancing economic and commercial cooperation. The MEA highlighted that these interactions aim to strengthen collaboration across both traditional sectors and emerging futuristic areas, reinforcing the economic pillar of the relationship.

The MEA statement emphasized the visit's role in further solidifying the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP). Dubai has historically been a vital hub for India's commercial, cultural, and people-to-people interactions with the UAE. This connection is further cemented by the large Indian diaspora residing in the UAE, estimated at around 4.3 million people, the majority of whom live and work in Dubai.

Strengthening Multi-faceted Ties

This high-profile visit is poised to reinforce the multi-faceted ties India shares with the UAE and specifically with Dubai. It serves as an opportunity to build upon existing collaborations and chart pathways for future cooperation across strategic, economic, and cultural domains, reflecting the growing importance of the India-UAE partnership.
