IDS organises walkathon to mark World Oral Health month

Bhubaneswar, April 7: More than 300 persons including students took part in a ‘walkathon’ organised by the Institute of Dental Sciences (IDS), faculty of dental sciences of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan Deemed to be University (SOA) here on Sunday to celebrate the World Oral Health month.

The event, which had the slogan ‘Happy Mouth, Happy Mind—Walk for a Cause’, aimed at raising awareness about the importance of maintaining good oral health while highlighting its direct impact on overall well being of a person.

While walking on the 3-km route, the participants who included faculty members, interns and staff, distributed informative leaflets spreading important messages on oral hygiene, prevention of dental diseases and the benefit of routine dental check-ups.

The students and interns also held ‘flash-mob’ on the way to educate the people on oral health.

The walkathon reflected the institute’s commitment to community outreach and health education, Prof. (Dr.) Ruchi Bhuyan, Dean of IDS, said.
