New Delhi, March 9: India strongly condemned the recent act of vandalism at a Hindu temple in Chino Hills, California. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, described the attack as "despicable" and called for swift action by local authorities to hold those responsible accountable.

"We have received reports regarding the vandalism at a Hindu temple in Chino Hills, California. We strongly condemn these despicable acts in the harshest terms. We urge local law enforcement to take strict action against the perpetrators and ensure proper security measures are in place to protect places of worship," the MEA stated.

The BAPS Hindu Temple in Chino Hills was defaced with derogatory messages, just days before a controversial "Khalistani referendum" event in Los Angeles. The official social media page of BAPS United States provided details of the incident, emphasizing that such acts of hatred would not deter the community’s resolve.

In a post on X, BAPS Public Affairs declared: "In response to this desecration at the Chino Hills Mandir, the Hindu community stands firm against hatred. We will not allow hate to take root alongside the Chino Hills and Southern California community. Our shared humanity and faith will ensure peace and compassion prevail."

The Coalition of Hindus of North America (CoHNA) also shared information about the vandalism on X, pointing out that the defacement of the iconic BAPS Temple coincides with the upcoming "Khalistan referendum" in Los Angeles. CoHNA expressed concern over the continued vandalism of Hindu temples, stating: "Another Hindu temple has been attacked, this time the BAPS Temple in Chino Hills. This highlights the ongoing issue of anti-Hindu sentiment that is often dismissed by media and academia, despite clear evidence of Hinduphobia."

The post also referenced other temple vandalism incidents from 2022 onward, calling for a thorough investigation into the Chino Hills attack.
