Bhubaneswar, March 9: Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated 16 projects worth Rs 42 crore and laid the foundation for several others totaling Rs 118 crore in Keonjhar's Anandapur sub-division on March 9. He also announced a second steel plant in Patana, Keonjhar district. These announcements were made during the 61st annual festival at Anandapur College.
The CM informed a Rs 7 crore financial package for upgrading the college infrastructure, including a multi-purpose hall, seminar hall, and sports ground. He also announced Rs 2 crore for the Anandapur sub-divisional hospital and Rs 20 crore for completing the local stadium.
Majhi praised Anandapur College’s educational environment and shared his own memories as a former student, stressing the importance of hard work for success. He also spoke about the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and its focus on quality education, which he said had only recently been implemented in Odisha due to political delays.
Majhi highlighted the government’s efforts to improve education, including the PM-USHA Yojana, which aims to enhance higher education through better infrastructure and job opportunities. He assured that 1.5 lakh government jobs would be available in the next five years, with a transparent process.
The CM also shared that the upcoming budget allocates Rs 41,273 crore for education, with Rs 3,655 crore specifically for higher education. He emphasized the government's commitment to strengthening Odisha's education system.
Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj also spoke, announcing the reintroduction of student union elections and the establishment of the Godavarish Mishra Adarsha Prathamik Vidyalaya to improve primary education. The event was attended by Keonjhar MP Anant Nayak, Ghasipura MLA Badri Narayan Patra, and Anandapur MLA Abhimanyu Sethi.
