New Delhi, February 16: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set an ambitious target of tripling India's textile exports to ₹9 lakh crore by 2030. Speaking at Bharat Tex 2025, he highlighted India's position as the world's sixth-largest textile exporter, with exports currently at ₹3 lakh crore.

PM Modi expressed confidence in the industry's growth: "With the enthusiasm I see today, I believe this target will be met even before 2030." He emphasized Bharat Tex’s emergence as a premier global textile event, bringing together stakeholders from across the value chain.

PM Modi lauded the sector’s progress, noting that foreign direct investment (FDI) in textiles has doubled over the past decade. With participation from over 120 countries, Bharat Tex serves as a vital platform for engagement and business expansion.

Highlighting key initiatives, he recalled the government's 'Mission for Cotton Productivity' announced in Budget 2025, aimed at boosting cotton farming and sustainability. Additionally, under the National Technical Textiles Mission, India is targeting $10 billion in technical textile exports, further positioning itself as a global leader in this high-growth segment.

During his visit, PM Modi toured the Bharat Tex exhibition and interacted with industry leaders, reinforcing his vision of taking India's textile sector "from local to global."
