India, US engage in ongoing trade talks, aim for mutually beneficial agreement

New Delhi, April 9: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) addressed the ongoing trade discussions with the United States on Wednesday, with spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasizing efforts toward a mutually beneficial trade agreement.

Responding to recent tariff announcements, Jaiswal stated that India is carefully analyzing their implications and engaging in reciprocal discussions with US trade representatives.

During a weekly press briefing, Jaiswal explained, "On the 3rd, the Ministry of Commerce issued a detailed press release outlining India's position. We are studying the impact of the announced tariffs."

He further added, "Ongoing discussions are taking place between the trade teams of India and the US, aiming for the swift conclusion of a comprehensive, multi-sectoral bilateral trade agreement. India highly values its strategic global partnership with the US and is committed to collaborating closely. Both teams are in active discussions, and we are hopeful that we can bring this to a close soon."
