Siraj, Sundar, and Gill Propel Gujarat Titans to Third Straight Win

Gujarat Titans maintained their impressive early-season form in the 2025 Indian Premier League, securing their third consecutive victory with a convincing performance against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday. An exceptional bowling display, spearheaded by Mohammed Siraj on his home ground, restricted Hyderabad, before calculated batting contributions ensured a comfortable seven-wicket win.

Siraj's Career-Best Spell

After being asked to bat first, Sunrisers Hyderabad attempted to implement their characteristic aggressive approach. However, they were consistently pegged back by Mohammed Siraj, who delivered his best-ever IPL figures of 4 for 17. Siraj claimed crucial wickets at regular intervals, including openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma. Despite SRH's intent, wickets fell frequently, undermining their efforts to build a substantial total. Contributions from Heinrich Klaasen (27) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (31), along with effective spells from R Sai Kishore (2/24) and Prasidh Krishna (2/25), helped GT limit SRH to 152 for 8, despite a late cameo from Pat Cummins (22*).

Sundar's Counter-Attack

Gujarat Titans' chase encountered early turbulence. The SRH new-ball pair of Mohammed Shami and Pat Cummins bowled effectively, dismissing the in-form Sai Sudharsan and the dangerous Jos Buttler cheaply, leaving GT at 16 for 2. Responding proactively, Gujarat promoted Washington Sundar to number four. Sundar counter-attacking innings, by hitting two fours and two sixes in the final over of the powerplay to seize momentum.

Gill and Sundar Partnership Takes Control

Sundar continued his aggressive approach, playing several impressive strokes and forming a decisive partnership with captain Shubman Gill. The pair added 90 runs for the third wicket in just 56 balls, effectively taking the game away from Sunrisers Hyderabad. Gill played a composed innings, reaching his half-century off 36 balls, while Sundar narrowly missed out on his maiden IPL fifty, dismissed for a crucial 49 off 29 balls after a spectacular catch.

Titans Climb Table

Following Sundar's departure, Sherfane Rutherford, introduced as an Impact Player, ensured there were no further complications. He played a quickfire innings of 35 not out from 16 balls, sealing the victory with 3.2 overs to spare. This third consecutive win propelled Gujarat Titans to second place on the points table, while Sunrisers Hyderabad remained at the bottom after their fourth straight loss.
