Sukma( Chhattisgarh), November 24: A District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawan sustained injuries following the explosion of a pressure improvised explosive device (IED) planted by Naxals in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district on Sunday.
The blast occurred in the area between Raigudem and Tumalpad, according to officials. Details of the incident are still emerging.
This incident comes days after a major operation in Sukma, where 10 Naxals were killed in an encounter with the DRG. In the aftermath of that encounter, a cache of weapons, including INSAS rifles, AK-47s, and SLRs, was recovered by security forces.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai commended the security forces for their bravery and reaffirmed his administration's commitment to eradicating Naxalism. Highlighting a zero-tolerance policy, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of development, peace, and security for the citizens of Chhattisgarh.
The state government, in alignment with Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s directive, has set a target to eliminate Naxalism from the state by March 2026. CM Sai expressed confidence that this goal is achievable with sustained efforts and a planned approach.
