The Kalinga Warriors return to action against Hyderabad FC in a crucial clash as the league table takes shape. They secured a point in their last encounter against Mohun Bagan Super Giant at home, but will be eager to get three points as the league table takes shape.
Coach Sergio Lobera has no fresh injury concerns heading into the game, and should have the entire squad at his disposal. In the same fixture last season, Odisha FC emerged out 3-0 win against a depleted Hyderabad side.
Odisha FC are currently placed at the ninth place with nine points from eight games and a win could take Odisha FC into the top six. With seven points from as many games, Hyderabad FC are currently placed at the 11th spot in the ISL standings.
Odisha FC conducted their pre-match press conference on Saturday, with Head Coach Sergio Lobera and Saviour Gama.
Speaking about the team’s performance against Mohun Bagan, Lobera highlighted the areas of improvement while praising the overall progress.
"We didn’t concede chances against a very strong team like Mohun Bagan and created opportunities ourselves. We need to be more clinical in the final third, but I am happy with the improvement we’ve shown," Lobera remarked.
Lobera emphasized taking things one game at a time with a demanding schedule ahead. "My focus is entirely on Hyderabad. After this match, we’ll evaluate the squad and prepare for the next one. There are no excuses; we need to compete well in every situation," he added.
"It was difficult to be sidelined, but the medical team, coaching staff, and my teammates helped me recover. Now, I feel great and ready to contribute," Gama said.
On working with Lobera, Gama added, "He was my first professional coach, and I’ve learned so much from him. His style is familiar to me, making it easier to adapt and perform under his guidance."
