PM Modi commits to making Odisha most progressive state by 2036

New Delhi, November 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking at the Odisha Parba 2024 in New Delhi, outlined an ambitious vision for Odisha as the state gears up to celebrate its centenary foundation day in 2036.

 He pledged that the Centre will work towards establishing Odisha as one of the most advanced and empowered states in India.

Highlighting Odisha’s potential in the port sector, Modi announced plans to enhance infrastructure and operations at ports like Dhamra, Gopalpur, Astaranga, Palur, and Subarnarekha, thereby boosting export opportunities. The steel and mining industries, crucial to Odisha’s economy, will also receive significant focus.

The Prime Minister emphasized better market linkages for agricultural products such as cashew, jute, and turmeric, ensuring farmers receive greater benefits. He also envisioned Odisha as a global seafood hub, tapping into the sector’s vast potential.

Reiterating the government’s commitment to improving the ease of doing business, Modi expressed optimism about attracting investments and fostering economic growth in the state.

PM Modi paid homage to Odisha’s cultural and spiritual heritage, remembering luminaries like Swabhaba Kabi Gangadhar Meher, Bhakta Dasia Bauri, Bhakta Salabega, and Atibadi Jagannath Das.

He lauded Odia poets for spreading spiritual wisdom, particularly through works like the Sarala Bhagabat, and invoked Santh Kabi Bhima Bhoi’s famous verse: “Mo Jibana Pachhe Narke Padithau, Jagat Uddhar Hau.”

To promote Odisha’s vibrant culture, Modi proposed celebrating Balijatra Divas and Odissi Divas on national and global platforms. He also suggested initiatives to highlight the state’s rich tribal traditions.

The event, organized by Odia Samaj, is a celebration of Odisha's rich heritage, showcasing its cultural, social, and political legacy. Union Ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw and Dharmendra Pradhan were also present to honor the occasion.

The 'Odisha Parba 2024 event, held from November 22-24, serves as a vibrant display of the state’s dynamic cultural forms and contributions to India’s progress.
