Bhubaneswar, February 21: At a time when the death of a Nepali girl student in KIIT Bhubaneswar has wreaked a diplomatic row across nations, barbarism of the KIIT authorities on the students hit the Odisha Assembly yet on Friday.
The issue created chaos in the house after the inhumane episodes of the private varsity was discussed unlike a primary agenda during the adjournment motion.
Veteran Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati demanded judicial probe and immediate arrest of KIIT Founder & former BJD MP Achyuta Samanta during discussion on the adjournment motion.
At the same time, BJP MLA Babu Singh expressed concern over the KIIT episodes and demanded a genuine probe into the incident and even the functionality of the university.
Similarly, underlining the students’ concern Odisha Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj termed the KIIT incident as too barbaric. He said, probe of a high-level committee is underway. Stern action will be initiated against the KIIT authorities and the persons concerned following the report of the fact-finding team.
