Prayagraj (UP), January 18: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday took a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam at Prayag. He described the event as "a festival of Indian culture and spiritual experience of Sanatan Dharma," rooted in the ancient Vedic astronomical traditions.

On the sixth day of the Maha Kumbh, Singh expressed his gratitude and sense of fulfillment after performing the sacred ritual at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mystical Saraswati rivers. "I consider it my good fortune that the almighty has given me this opportunity. Today, after taking a bath in the Sangam, I feel very fulfilled," Singh remarked.

He further elaborated on the significance of the Maha Kumbh, calling it a celebration of the spiritual and scientific aspects of Sanatan Dharma. "This festival is a festival of Indian culture and spiritual experience of Sanatan Dharma, which is based on the ancient Vedic astronomical event… This is a confluence of Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati with the spiritual, scientific aspect of Sanatan Dharma as well as social harmony," he said.

Singh also took a moment to congratulate Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the successful and efficient organization of the Kumbh Mela.

After performing puja and offering prayers at the sacred confluence, Rajnath Singh was accompanied by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Sudhanshu Trivedi and other party leaders. The atmosphere around the Triveni Sangam was filled with devotion, as foreign pilgrims joined the vast sea of devotees in the spiritual energy of the Mela.

The Maha Kumbh Mela, which commenced on January 13, is drawing millions of devotees from all corners of India and abroad. Pilgrims from different cultural, linguistic, and social backgrounds unite in this sacred event, setting aside their differences for a collective experience of devotion.
