Bhubaneswar, Jan 14: On the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Ministers Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, conveyed their heartfelt greetings to the people of the state.
PM Modi took to his official ‘X’ handle and wrote, “Best wishes to all the countrymen on Makar Sankranti. May this holy festival dedicated to Uttarayan Sun infuse new energy and new enthusiasm into your lives.”
CM Majhi wished everyone through his ‘X’ handle and wrote, “Warm greetings and best wishes to everyone on the occasion of the holy Makar Sankranti. May this holy festival fill everyone’s lives with happiness, peace and prosperity.”
“Heartfelt greetings and best wishes on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti. May the lives of everyone be filled with peace and prosperity. This is my prayer to Lord Jagannath,” wrote Deputy CM KV Singh Deo on his X handle.
“Heartiest greetings and congratulations on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti. May the Almighty bless everyone with happiness and prosperity,” wrote Deputy CM Pravati Parida.
It is worth mentioning that Makar Sankranti is a major festival in Odisha which signifies the start of the sun's journey towards the northern hemisphere. Celebrated with great enthusiasm throughout the state, people participate in traditional activities such as flying kites, taking holy dips, visiting temples. Makar Chaula, a special sweet dish, is also made for the occasion.
