Kolkata, October 6: The Calcutta High Court, during an emergency hearing, addressed the alleged rape and murder of a minor girl in Jaynagar, South 24 Parganas, West Bengal.
The court, led by Justice Tirthankar Ghosh, directed that the victim's autopsy be conducted at a Central-run hospital, specifically AIIMS Kalyani in Nadia district, under the supervision of a judicial magistrate.
In the absence of adequate facilities at AIIMS, the autopsy may be performed at the state-run College of Medicine and JNM Hospital, but with a forensic expert from AIIMS Kalyani overseeing the process.
The court also ordered the video recording of the entire procedure, allowing the victim's parents to be present outside the autopsy room and obtain a copy of the video if they requested.
This hearing follows state BJP Secretary Priyanka Tibrewal's letter to the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), seeking their intervention in the case.
