Bhubaneswar, November 6: In an effort to reduce accidents and improve passenger safety, Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mohapatra has announced a new speed limit for Mo Bus services within Bhubaneswar city limits will be 40 km per hour.
For trips outside the city, the speed cap will be slightly higher at 50 km/h.
The Minister said that strict penalties will apply for any violations of these speed limits.
Additionally, drivers will be subject to alcohol tests both before beginning their shifts and randomly throughout the day to ensure compliance. “We are implementing these measures to ensure passenger safety and driver accountability. Speed governors will be regularly checked, and driver licenses will be verified,” Mohapatra said.
These steps, he added, are part of a broader strategy to make urban transportation safer for all passengers in Bhubaneswar.
