Ganjam, Mar 5: In a gruesome incident, a notorious criminal was hacked to death by some miscreants in Khallikote locality of Odisha’s Ganjam district.
The deceased criminal has been identified as Rabi Das and the incident has been reported from Haripur village under Khallikote police limits in the district.
As per reports, some locals spotted the body of Das, who had returned from jail just three months ago, lying on the road in a pool of blood and alerted the police.
Upon getting the information, Khaliakote police arrived at the spot and seized the body before sending it for post-mortem.
Though the exact reason behind the gruesome killing is yet to be ascertained, police suspect that the it might be a fallout of a past rivalry.
Das was involved in several criminal cases in various police stations.
An investigation has been launched into the matter and efforts are on to identify and nab the culprits involved, said the police.
