Bhubaneswar, Mar 17: Odisha Electronics & IT Minister Mukesh Mahaling on Monday informed that as many as 2603 villages in the state have no mobile connectivity.
Out of total 51167 villages in Odisha, 2603 villages have no mobile connectivity, said Mahaling while responding to a question asked by MLA Ramesh Chandra Behera in the State Assembly today.
A total of 4,210 mobile towers are planned to be installed under the Centre's Digital Bharat Nidhi (DBN) project, in coordination with the Odisha government, to provide mobile connectivity in all villages of the state. So far, 2,572 towers are working. The goal is to make all towers operational in Odisha by June 2025, the Minister said.
Earlier today, the ongoing Budget Session of the Odisha Assembly witnessed an uproarious scene after the opposition BJD and Congress created a ruckus over several issues.
While the BJD created ruckus over the alleged deteriorating law and order situation in the state and raised slogans, Congress members staged a protest over rising crimes against women in the state.
It is worth mentioning that the Budget session, which began on February 13, will continue till April 5 in two phases – February 13 to February 21 and March 7 to April 5, 2025.
