Bhubaneswar, Dec 14: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday launched LAccMI Bus Yojana in Koraput district.
As many as 63 buses will connect 234 Panchayats of Koraput district benefiting more than 13 lakh people. The scheme, first started in Malkangari district under the 5T initiative, facilitates bus service from panchayats to blocks in every district at a fare of just Rs 5. More than 1,000 Laxmi buses will run across the state and they will be operated by Mission Shakti members, official sources said.
Launching the scheme, the Chief Minister said that the first phase of the LAccMI bus service started from Malkangiri and reached Koraput today. In the first phase, the bus service covered the six districts-Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Gajapati and Koraput. A total of 1131 Panchayats of these six districts have now LAccMI bus facility benefiting to more than 63 lakh people. The Chief Minister said that daily hassles for transport would be removed and people would be able to get the facility of commuting at low cost.
This scheme was initiated after knowing about the transportation problems of the people during district visits by the CMO officials.
