Bhubaneswar, Apr 9: The Lingaraj Temple Road railway station in Bhubaneswar is all set for a big makeover, with several new and modern facilities planned for passengers.

Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi visited the site on Tuesday to check on the progress and said that all work is expected to be finished by October 31 this year.

As per reports, the redevelopment project will cost around Rs 19.53 crore and aims to improve the travel experience for both pilgrims and daily commuters.

The project includes building a new G+2 station building covering 765 square metres, along with the redevelopment of the existing 1100 square metre building at the front of the station.

Some of the key new features include:

  • A new lift and a 12-metre-wide foot overbridge for easier movement between platforms
  • Modern toilets for men and women spread over 65 square metres
  • An air-conditioned waiting hall of 130 square metres for passenger comfort
  • A cafeteria and a commercial complex to serve food and other needs
  • Separate parking areas for two-wheelers and three-wheelers over 260 square metres
  • Granite and mosaic tiles on platforms 1, 2, and 3 to enhance appearance and safety
  • 29 new bays to increase platform shelter for protection from sun and rain

Additionally, the station will get new coach indication boards, train information displays, and signage to guide passengers more easily. These changes are being carried out with support from the Ministry of Railways.

Once completed, the upgraded station will offer a cleaner, safer, and more comfortable environment for everyone using it, especially for devotees visiting the nearby famous Lingaraj Temple.
