Bhubaneswar, April 12: Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare and Chemicals & Fertilizers, Jagat Prakash Nadda visited the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET) in Bhubaneswar and reviewed the institute’s progress and activities.

He was accompanied by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Mohan Charan Majhi.

During the visit, the dignitaries toured key facilities at the institute—including the processing and toolroom units and research laboratories—and interacted with faculty members and students.

Praising CIPET’s contribution to innovation, research, and industry-oriented skill development in the petrochemicals sector, Minister Nadda stressed the importance of forward thinking to realize the goal of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India).

“To meet the aspirations of a developed nation, CIPET must anticipate future challenges and engage closely with academia and industry to design need-based training programs,” said Nadda. He also called for a structured feedback mechanism from industry stakeholders and emphasized the need for CIPET to keep pace with evolving industry standards through continual curriculum and standard updates.

He highlighted the significance of practical research and added that CIPET should also address real-time industrial challenges while fostering innovation. "Wider awareness of CIPET’s work will ensure that more people benefit from its offerings," he noted.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi echoed these sentiments, applauding CIPET’s initiatives. He said the Odisha government is committed to attracting greater investment into the state and promoting industrial growth. He underscored CIPET’s potential role in building a future-ready workforce for the growing chemical industry in Odisha.

The visit also saw participation from senior officials of the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, including the Department Secretary.
