Lucknow, April 12: Uttar Pradesh is set to commemorate the 134th birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar with full state honours on Monday, April 14. The state government has declared a public holiday to mark the occasion.
Acting on the directions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, districts across UP will host grand events including seminars, tribute ceremonies, and cultural programmes focused on Babasaheb’s life and legacy. Special emphasis will be laid on his role in drafting the Indian Constitution.
A day before the celebrations, special cleanliness drives will be conducted on Sunday in all public parks and memorials—especially those housing statues of national icons. Citizens, public representatives, government officials, and employees are expected to actively participate in the drives.
On Monday, floral tributes will be paid to Dr. Ambedkar’s statues by district officials and local representatives. Educational events highlighting his contributions will be held to engage students, intellectuals, and the wider public. The Chief Secretary has directed all divisional commissioners and district magistrates to personally attend the events and ensure broad participation.
In a separate message, Chief Minister Adityanath extended greetings to the people on the occasion of Baisakhi. He said the festival reflects India’s rich cultural heritage and celebrates the agrarian roots of the nation. Recalling the foundation of the Khalsa Panth by Guru Gobind Singh Ji, he wished happiness, prosperity, and joy to all on this festive occasion.
