Bhubaneswar, December 29: The Congress and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) have criticized the Odisha government, led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, for delaying the assessment of crop losses caused by recent unseasonal rains. Both parties questioned the government's efficiency in disaster management and timely delivery of relief to affected farmers.
The Congress MLA Rama Chandra Kadam accused the administration of ignoring farmers' grievances and failing to address their immediate needs.
Meanwhile, the BJD leader Prasant Muduli emphasized the urgency of swift action to ensure farmers receive the support they deserve.
Responding to the criticism, the Food Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Krushna Chandra Patra defended the state government, arguing that thorough assessments take time to gather accurate data for fair compensation. The party assured that necessary steps are being taken to address the farmers' concerns effectively.
Previously, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi reiterated the government’s commitment to the farmers, stating, “Every farmer who has faced crop loss during the recent unseasonal rains will be compensated. The process has already been initiated.”
