Bhubaneswar, January 18: Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo has praised the visit of Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam to Odisha as a landmark moment in fostering stronger ties between the two regions.
Singh Deo said that Odisha Government had signed eight MoUs with Singapore, including one by my department focused on renewable and green energy.
President Tharman, accompanied by his wife, Jane Yumiko Ittogi, attended a cultural program yesterday and has visited the historic Konark Temple today.
Singh Deo informed that this visit would open avenues for enhanced investments and collaborative opportunities between Odisha and Singapore
Eight MoUs were signed between Odisha and various entities of Singapor on Friday. These collaborations aim to strengthen key sectors such as renewable energy, information technology, and cultural exchanges.
On Friday, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi welcomed President Tharman and expressed enthusiasm about deepening ties.
During this visit, Odisha Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja presented a comprehensive briefing covering themes such as industrial parks, skill development, renewable energy, semiconductors, and cultural connectivity.
Majhi also highlighted Odisha’s focus on innovation in the fintech sector, stating, "The state aims to leverage GFTN's global expertise to develop cutting-edge solutions tailored to Odisha's needs."
Earlier today, President Tharman visited the heritage village of Raghurajpur, renowned for its vibrant crafts and artisanal diversity.
