Odisha Elections 2024: Rahul Gandhi’s Rayagada visit cancelled

Bhubaneswar, May 3: Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Odisha’s Rayagada has been cancelled after the grand old party announced that he will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha polls from the Raebareli constituency in Uttar Pradesh.

The visit was called off as Rahul will file his nomination papers today. As per reports, Rahul will arrive at Fursatganj airport by a special flight at 10:30 am today and file his nomination papers. Notably, today is the last day for filling the nomination papers for the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha polls scheduled on May 20.

This would have been Rahul’s second public meeting in the state ahead of the twin polls. He was also scheduled to address another public rally in Bolangir district.

Notably, the Lok Sabha and Assembly polls in Odisha will be held simultaneously in four phases -- May 13, 20, 25, and June 1. The counting of votes will be done on June 4.
