Bhubaneswar, Feb 22: In a concerning incident reported from Nilagiri area of Odisha’s Balasore district, a fraudster allegedly swindled several class 10 students, appearing for the ongoing Matric exam conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), on the pretext of providing cheat papers with exam answers.
As per reports, the fraudster deceived numerous students by promising to provide cheat papers and took Rs 10,000 from each of them. Reportedly, his primary targets were students appearing for distance Matriculation exams.
The students realized they had been duped when no answers were delivered on the first day of the exam. Thereafter, the irate students and their guardians confronted him before alerting the police.
Based on the complaint, police arrested the suspect and are questioning him in this connection. The identity of the accused person has not been disclosed by the police.
"He claimed to have contacts within the board and promised to provide us with cheat papers with exam answers. For that, he charged us Rs 10,000 each. However, we were deceived as he never delivered the answer sheets," alleged a student.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
