Balasore, Feb 22: In a midnight heist, miscreants allegedly looted gold and silver ornaments worth over Rs 10 lakh from the house of an army personnel in Khaira locality of Odisha’s Balasore district late last night.
As per reports, the looters broke into the house of the army personnel, identified as Rajesh Chandra Shial, in Mathanuagaon village under Khaira police limits in the district where his family resides. He is currently posted in Jammu and Kashmir.
The looters barged into Rajesh’s house when his family members had gone out to attend a wedding party in the village by breaking the back door lock.
Thereafter, they broke open the wardrobe and decamped with gold and silver ornaments worth over Rs 10 lakh. While fleeing, the robbers abandoned a knife and an iron axe used in the crime.
Upon arriving at the home, Rajesh’s family members learned about the loot and filed a complaint with the Khaira police.
Based on the complaint, Khaira Police arrived at the scene and launched a probe into the matter.
Efforts are on to identify and nab the culprits involved, said the police.
