Bhubaneswar, Feb 13: Industrialist Pankaj Lochan Mohanty filed nomination for the President of Odisha Cricket Association (OCA), the elections for which is scheduled for February 24, 2025.
As per reports, Mohanty, who is currently serving as the Vice-President of OCA, is the only candidate to submit his nomination for the President’s post.
Nomination papers will be scrutinized on February 14. The candidates are allowed to withdraw their nominations until February 15. However, the new President will be elected during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of OCA on February 24, clarified the OCA.
It is worth mentioning that the position of OCA president is lying vacant after the resignation of Pranab Prakash Das, a former minister and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader. He was elected as the OCA President in 2022 and resigned from the post in December last year.
Notably, the OCA is currently facing criticism from multiple quarters due to malfunction of floodlight system at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, which caused a 30-minute disruption during the ODI match between India and England on February 9.
