Jagatsinghpur, Feb 18: In a tragic incident, the helper of a liquor-laden truck was killed after the ill-fated vehicle overturned after being hit by another truck on Cuttack-Paradip state highway in Odisha's Jagatsinghpur district late last night.
The deceased was identified as Subhas.
As per reports, the mishap took place on Cuttack-Paradip state highway under Kujang police limits in the district when the ill-fated vehicle, bearing regisration number (OD05 AS 6225), developed a mechanical issue. While the helper was fixing the problem, a speeding truck crashed into it.
As a result, the stationed truck overturned into a roadside canal.
According to eyewitnesses, while the consignment owner made efforts to recover the liquor from the overturned truck, there was little urgency in rescuing the trapped helper.
Sadly, by the time he was pulled out, he had already succumbed to his injuries.
Upon getting the information, police arrived at the scene and took stock of the situation. The cops seized the deceased person’s body and sent it for post-mortem.
Further investigation into the incident was underway.
