Berhampur, Mar 30: In a gruesome incident, miscreants allegedly shot dead a notorious criminal in Kabisuryanagar locality of Odisha’s Ganjam district today.
The deceased has been identified as Laxminarayan Paikarai, alias Kuna, and the killing has been reported from Patharpalli village under Kabisuryanagar police limits in the district.
According to sources, Kuna was riding his bike back to his village, Athagarhpatna, when he was shot in the head near a chicken farm in Patharpalli.
Upon getting the information, police arrived at the scene and seized the body. Subsequently, it was sent to Kabisuryanagar hospital for a post-mortem.
Though the exact motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained, it is being suspected that it might be fallout of previous enmity.
Kuna had a long history of criminal activities, with several cases filed against him at the local police station. However, reports suggest he was trying to turn his life around and rejoin society.
Further investigation into the matter was underway.
