Bhubaneswar, Mar 30: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday highlighted Odisha’s impressive capital expenditure achievements in Assembly and said that it is on track to become the future industrial hub of eastern India.
Majhi stated that Odisha’s capital expenditure for 2025-26 is set at Rs 65,012 crore, which is 6.1% of the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP)—the highest among major states in India.
He emphasized that Odisha has the financial strength to invest over Rs 5,000 crore per month, whereas many other states struggle to spend even Rs 500 crore monthly.
The Make in Odisha Conclave 2025 has attracted 593 investment proposals worth Rs 16.73 lakh crore, which could create around 13 lakh jobs in the state.
CM Majhi assured that Odisha will become the industrial capital of eastern India within five years, with efforts to develop every district into an industrial zone.
Recently, 40 medium and large industries have received approval, and more projects are in the pipeline.
Notably, Odisha’s Rs 2.90 lakh crore budget maintains strong financial discipline, with a fiscal deficit of Rs 34,200 crore (3.21% of GSDP). The government has allocated significant funds for infrastructure development, including:
- Odisha State Highway Authority for better road management
- Plans to construct 75,000 km of world-class roads by 2029-30
- Rs 408 crore for the development of economic regions
