Bhubaneswar, Jan 20: At least 679 police stations across Odisha are set to receive new Scorpio vehicles within the next 15 days. This move aims to enhance operational efficiency and strengthen law enforcement capabilities.
The investigating officers (IOs) will be equipped with 2,500 motorcycles, along with advanced investigative kits including laptops, smartphones, and pen drives.
Odisha recorded over 2.11 lakh registered cases last year.
By equipping officers with modern tools and vehicles, the state aims to simplify investigative processes both within Odisha and in inter-state operations.
In another notable development, the national flag will be hoisted on 11 uninhabited islands to enhance coastal security measures.
Moreover, special boats are being procured to strengthen the capabilities of 18 marine police stations, said Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania.
