Puri, Mar 30: In view of important rituals like ‘Khasapadalagi’ and Banakalagi’, the repair work of the Ratna Bhandar (treasury) of Shree Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri will be paused for four days from March 31.
The repair work will resume again on April 4, following the state government’s Standard Operating Procedure (SoP) and protocol of the temple administration.
Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Chief Administrator Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee has requested everyone's cooperation.
After a key meeting, Dr. Padhee said the repair work is expected to be completed by Akshaya Tritiya. So far, five rusty iron beams have been replaced with stainless steel beams, stones are being replaced, and chemical cleaning is being done.
It is worth mentioning that the repair work began on December 17, 2024, and is being carried out by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). The ASI aims to complete it within three months.
The Ratna Bhandar, which had been closed for 46 years, was reopened in July last year for an inventory check and structural repairs.
